Assistant Professor - Broadcast and Digital Journalism

Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach students in one of the preeminent Broadcast and Digital Journalism programs in the country. The full-time position starts Fall 2021.

This hire will support the Newhouse School’s goal of producing highly-skilled and ethical journalists who can work across multiple platforms in different roles for both traditional and innovative news organizations. Teaching students how to report on diverse communities is also a priority of the Newhouse School.

We seek candidates who can demonstrate experience with multiplatform news production including television, digital and social media. Candidates who can also demonstrate experience in newsroom management of journalists working across these platforms are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates will indicate enthusiasm and promise for exemplary teaching, whether through prior teaching experience or similar professional roles mentoring/supervising young journalists.

The successful candidate will need to show potential for conducting academic scholarship or industry-related creative activity/research that will position the hire as a recognized expert in the field. Participation in service and committee work for the department, the Newhouse School, and Syracuse University is expected.
